What are the features of Bear?

Top image of Bear

Bear is a multifunctional note-taking tool that allows you to leave notes in Markdown format. The features and functions are described below.

Differences between Bear and other note-taking tools

Bear differs from other note-taking tools in that it takes notes in Markdown format and is Mac-compatible.

The Markdown format is a method of writing that is used to organise the appearance of text. Bullets and headings can be reflected by writing “*List” or “#Headings”, so it is a relatively simple way of structuring text compared to HTML and other markup languages.

Another feature of Bear is that it is highly compatible with Mac and Apple products, while some note-taking tools are ‘Windows only’ compatible.

However, Bear requires you to learn a notation system, which is likely to be difficult if you are unfamiliar with IT.

Features of Bear

Bear has the following main functions.

  • Image insertion function
  • By referencing files, images and PDFs can be pasted into notes. Images can also be resized and cropped.

  • iCloud synchronisation function
  • Notes can be shared between devices that are synchronized via iCloud. They can be kept up-to-date automatically on all devices.

  • Task management function
  • To-do lists can be created using the ‘tick boxes’ in the markdown function.
In this way, Bear also has functions to utilise the notes you leave behind.

i love the way i can write in markdown, post to my blog in markdown, export is great too, backup is solid, love the way the tagging vanishes after i’ve used it so it’s nice and clean to look at.

Bear has a minimalistic User-Experience (UX) / User-Interface (UI). I love that it syncs on my iPhone 12, iPad Mini 6, Mac Mini (2020), MacBook Pro (2018) and Apple Watch 6.

I like the fact that the Bear app is minimal on purpose. So there are very less distractions if you’re using the app to take down notes, ideas or creating content for your blog. It is super easy to use, offers many optimizations and also comes with a whole lot of keyboard shortcuts.

Reviews and opinions on improvements to Bear

Next, we introduce reviews and opinions on improvements to Bear. Users have commented that it is inconvenient because it is not possible to separate folders, and that the markdown system leaves descriptions behind.

There isn’t anything in particular that I don’t like about Bear. It is easy to use and fairly cheap if you choose to be a Pro member (which allows your notes to sync across devices).

I had a coupon code that wasn’t working and reached out and customer service tried to help me, but when it didn’t work they basically threw their hands up and said too bad… the cost for Bear Pro isn’t that much, but the experience with customer service wasn’t what I was hoping for and I’m not desperately seeking a note taking app.

Bear is almost too simplistic to be a great organizational tool, especially for work-related projects. It is also only available on Mac/iOS.

What is the recommended method for intuitively leaving notes?

Below is best tool that allow you to leave notes in an intuitive way.

Bear is a tool that is Mac-compatible and uses markdown notation to take notes. On the other hand, it should be noted that it cannot be installed on Windows or Android.

Also, when sharing notes with a team, there is a risk that members may not be able to use the Markdown format or tools with many functions. Therefore, if you want to record notes with several people, it is suitable to use an ‘information sharing tool’ that is simpler and has the necessary functions without excess or deficiency.

Therefore, the best tool for managing and sharing notes in a team is Stock, a notebook-type information sharing tool that also has a message/task function and makes it easy for anyone to leave all kinds of information.

No special notation is required as notes can be easily left in Stock’s ‘notes’. In addition, Stock can be shared in real time from any device and notes can be associated with ‘messages’ and ‘tasks’, making it easy to exchange information related to the notes.

Summary of tutorial of Bear and reviews

We have focused on Bear’s usage, reviews and reputation.

Bear is a highly functional note tool that can be written and styled in markdown format. However, it must be introduced after considering that members have knowledge of the markdown system and that the supported operating systems are Mac/iPhone/iPad.

In this way, tools whose introduction depends on the IT literacy of members and the operating system they are using have a high risk of not spreading within the company even if they are introduced. Therefore, select a tool that ‘allows anyone to easily leave notes without trouble even after introduction’.

In conclusion, the appropriate tool for sharing and managing notes is the information sharing tool Stock, which even non-IT company members can use on the same day.

Free registration only takes a minute, so using Stock and share and manage your notes without burden.
